Getting Started

Note: This guide was created for and is meant to be used in version Alpha 0.8.4.

Welcome to Allumeria! This guide will help you understand the basics of the platform and get you started on your adventure.

Character Creation

To start playing, you will need to create a character. Characters can join any world, and keep their inventory and stats when moving between them.

As of 0.13, there are two main customization options: name and Player Skin. The character is named Ruby by default.

World Creation

Your character needs a world to join. Create a world and give it a name. You can also change the world seed. Different seeds will generate different randomly-generated worlds.

Getting Tools

When you appear on the surface, the first thing you will want to do is look for trees and Flint.

  1. Gather Flint: There are little dark-grey rocks scattered around. Left click on them to pick up the flint.
  2. Gather Wood: Find a tree, look at the base of the trunk, and hold down left click. This will start chopping down the tree. Once the tree has been felled, you will get Logs and tree seeds. These seeds will vary based on the type of tree you chopped down.
  3. Craft Planks: Open your inventory by pressing E. There is a crafting menu on the right hand side of the screen. Use the logs you collected to make Planks.
  4. Craft Workbench: Now with the planks, craft a Workbench. This workbench can be placed down on the ground. Put it in your hot bar by clicking it and moving it down to the lowest row of your inventory. Close your inventory with E or Escape.
  5. Place Workbench: Place the workbench down in front of you by holding it and right clicking.
  6. Craft Tools: Now you can right click on the workbench to open a different crafting menu. If you have at least 5 Flint and 5 Planks in your inventory, you will be able to craft a Tool.
    • The most useful tool at this stage is the Flint Pickaxe. This pickaxe will allow you to mine stone.
    • It would also be useful to make a sword and an axe. The sword will allow you to defend yourself at night, and the axe will chop down trees faster.

Shelter

Soon, the sun will set and the sky will go dark, meaning monsters such as Zombies, Skeletons, and Mages will begin to invade your world. This means you will want a light source and a shelter.

  • Torches: You can find large black rocks scattered along the surface. These are coal deposits, and you can mine them with your pickaxe. With some Coal collected, you can combine it with Planks to create Torches. Torches placed on the surface will prevent monsters from spawning at night, but they wont prevent monsters spawning in caves.
  • Building a Shelter: You can create a shelter by placing down Planks you collected, or digging into the side of a hill. You can also craft a Door at the Workbench.
    • Tip: If you want to settle underground, replace the floor with a manufactured block, like Planks. Monsters will not be able to spawn on non-naturally generating blocks, like planks or other player-created blocks.

Caving

Now that you have a shelter, you can start to explore the world. Underground there are various ore deposits. The most common one is Copper.

To smelt the ore you find, you will need a Furnace.

  • Furnaces can be made using 8 stone combined with 2 Coal.
  • Furnaces work the same as a Workbench, and do not require fuel to operate.
  • With Copper Ingots, you can now make better equipment.

Dungeons

Dungeons are a great way to get rare items like trinkets, ingots, and other fun items, but make sure you have sufficient gear for them, as they are packed to the brim with monsters.

As of Alpha 0.9.0, there are two types of dungeon: the Forest dungeon and the Snow dungeon. Dungeons typically contain lots of special and/or rare items. They appear as a brick tower with lanterns on top and a massive hole down the middle with various entrances via ladder.

With this, you should understand the basics required to progress in the game. Good luck!
